Wired
right.
The first
time.
Residential, commercial, and new-construction electrical work for Ouray County. Run by Justin Hirt — local, accountable, and on time.
From service panels
to porch lights.
Seven core services covering the working systems of a mountain home or commercial space — from rough-in on a new build to that one breaker that keeps tripping.
Wiring & rewires
Most Ouray-area homes have a story in their walls — knob-and-tube from the mine days, 60s aluminum, additions wired by three different guys. We sort it out cleanly.
Rough-in & trim-out
Working with your GC and architect on new homes, ADUs, garages, and shops. We schedule rough-in around framing, plumbing, and HVAC so everyone keeps moving.
Panel upgrades & service changes
If your panel buzzes, sparks, or still has a fuse box — it's time. We swap to modern 200A panels with proper grounding, surge protection, and labels you can read.
Lighting design & install
Lighting isn't an afterthought. We walk the space with you, lay out a plan in three layers — ambient, task, accent — and install it clean enough that you forget how dark it used to be.
Outdoor & landscape lighting
Path lights that survive the snow plow. Low-voltage trees that don't fail on the first hard freeze. Deck circuits sized for the hot tub you'll add later. Built for our winters, not California's.
Commercial & light industrial
Restaurants, retail, lodging, well houses, shop spaces. We handle the electrical side of running a small Ouray business — from grand opening to that 10pm panel trip.
Troubleshooting & repair
The mystery breaker. The humming outlet. The kitchen lights that dim when the fridge kicks on. We diagnose what's actually wrong — not what's most expensive to replace — and tell you what we found.
A licensed electrician who actually answers the phone.
Justin Hirt runs Ouray Electric Co. himself. That means when you call, you talk to the guy doing the work. When you get a quote, it's the one you pay. When something needs to come back, he comes back.
Born of the San Juans and built for them — every job leaves the panel labeled, the wire stapled, and the trash hauled.
More about Justin →Ouray County
& the box canyon.
Based in Ouray. We cover the county and the Sneffels range — Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride, and the rural stretches between. If you can drive there in under an hour, we can be there.
Outside the county? Get in touch — we take projects in Montrose, Silverton, and the wider San Juans on a case-by-case basis.
A small town remembers good work.
Justin rewired our 1898 miner's cabin without tearing it apart. Found knob-and-tube I didn't even know was still hot. Walked us through every decision and his bid is what we paid.
Called on a Tuesday with a panel that was buzzing. He was out by Thursday, had it swapped to 200A on Saturday, and the kitchen renovation didn't lose a day. Solid guy.
We've used Justin on three remodels now. Shows up when he says, prices what he quotes, and the work passes inspection clean every time. The bar for our subs.
